Peugeot recalled 308 vehicles built between 14 June 2011 and 29 July 2011. It is possible the mountings for the steering mechanism to engine subframe may not have been torqued to the correct specification. The dealer will check the torque of the mountings and if necessay replace the steering mechanism. You won't usually pay for it.1

What’s Wrong

It is possible the mountings for the steering mechanism to engine subframe may not have been torqued to the correct specification. If this is the case the issue will be highlighted to the driver by noise or play in the steering. If the driver fails to take action to rectify the issue the steering may detach causing a possible loss of control.
