Isuzu recalled Trooper vehicles built between 1 January 1993 and 31 December 2003. The internal contact resistance of the crimped joints for the grounding between the throttle position sensor (TPS) and engine control module may increase due to engine vibration. The recall notice describes the fix as: the installation of a new wiring harness. You won't usually pay for it.1

What’s Wrong

The internal contact resistance of the crimped joints for the grounding between the throttle position sensor (TPS) and engine control module may increase due to engine vibration. This can lead to an increased TPS voltage output which could lead to an increase in engine revolutions whilst at idle without any throttle input.

DVSA's Original Wording

Concern: ENGINE SPEED MAY INCREASE UNINTENTIONALLY Defect: It is possible that the internal contact resistance of the crimped joints for the grounding between the throttle position sensor (TPS) and engine control module may increase due to engine vibration. This can lead to an increased TPS voltage output which could lead to an increase in engine revolutions whilst at idle without any throttle input. Remedy: Recall all affected vehicles for the installation of a new wiring harness.

The Risk
