Toyota recalled HI LUX vehicles built between 6 July 2005 and 15 December 2005. It has been established that when the ambient temperature is cold and the fuel in the fuel tank is low air could be inhaled from the fuel tank vent tube into the fuel filter. The dealer will replace the fuel tank vent tube. You won't usually pay for it.1
What’s Wrong
It has been established that when the ambient temperature is cold and the fuel in the fuel tank is low air could be inhaled from the fuel tank vent tube into the fuel filter. This air could then pass into the fuel pump resulting in the vehicle surging or in the worst case the engine stalling.
