Ford recalled Explorer vehicles built between 1 August 1996 and 27 April 1998. Two conditions have been identified that may inhibit the throttle pedal from returning to its normal idle position. 1) The possibility that a loose or incorrectly located floor mat may interfere with the lower edge of the pedal assembly and 2) A potential foul condition between the engine compartment bulkhead insulation material and the throttle cable. The dealer will fit revised design floor mats and securing system. You won't usually pay for it.1
