Nissan Leaf Recalls In The UK: Every Safety Recall By Year And Build Date, And What To Do

Recall data from DVSA, updated 15 October 2026.

The Nissan Leaf has 6 UK safety recalls in DVSA records, 3 of them since 2020. The most common faults involve lighting and steering. Enter your registration to see which apply to your car; you won't usually pay for a recall repair.1

The Nissan Leaf has few UK recalls for an electric car that has been on sale since 2011, and none has told owners to stop charging or driving. The largest, R/2023/215, updated the vehicle control module logic on 37,574 second-generation Leafs, a software fix usually done in under an hour. Earlier Leafs had a 2015 recall for a possible loss of steering control (R/2014/171), which is worth checking on any used first-generation Leaf, and a start button recall shared with the Juke, Micra and Note (R/2015/133). In 2020 R/2020/294 fixed a weld in the reduction gear actuator plate on the Leaf and the e-NV200 van. Leafs are popular as first electric cars bought used, so run the registration before you buy and ask for proof of completed recalls. Battery health is not a recall issue on the Leaf; see electric car recalls for what is. Any Nissan dealer can confirm by VIN.

The Leaf Recalls That Matter Most

What You Might Notice

Many recall faults give no warning at all, so a registration check is the only reliable way to know.2 See car recall symptoms.
