Toyota recalled Prius, Yaris, Yaris Verso vehicles built between 31 January 2001 and 8 November 2001. Due to improper moulding of the body of the crankshaft position sensor engine oil may penetrate the seal and enter the sensor wiring connector. The dealer will replace the crankshaft position sensor. You won't usually pay for it.1

What’s Wrong

Due to improper moulding of the body of the crankshaft position sensor engine oil may penetrate the seal and enter the sensor wiring connector. In this condition the engine oil within the sensor's wiring connector may expand due to engine heat and could deform the sensor. In the worst case the connector may become disconnected which could cause the engine to stall while driving and restarting would not be possible.
