Volvo XC90 Recalls In The UK: Every Safety Recall By Year And Build Date, And What To Do

Recall data from DVSA, updated 15 October 2026.

The Volvo XC90 has 43 UK safety recalls in DVSA records, 13 of them since 2020. The most common faults involve seat belts and fire risk. Enter your registration to see which apply to your car; you won't usually pay for a recall repair.1

Most recent Volvo XC90 recalls are software updates shared across Volvo's larger cars. R/2020/073 updated the automatic emergency braking software on the XC90 and other models, covering 56,385 vehicle-records, and R/2023/025 fixed a possible software error in the brake control module. R/2021/205 dealt with a 15-amp fuse that could blow and stop some systems working. These are usually quick dealer visits. Plug-in hybrid XC90s have had battery cell module recalls (R/2025/117); follow any charging advice in your letter. See electric car recalls. Older XC90s have a longer history, including a steering recall in 2006 (R/2006/089) and a rubber fuel hose that could crack (R/2018/377). Seat belts, brakes and fire risks are joint most common types of XC90 recall overall. As a seven-seat family car, the XC90 is often sold on to a second family, so check before you buy. Any Volvo retailer can confirm by VIN.

Many recall faults give no warning at all, so a registration check is the only reliable way to know.2 See car recall symptoms.
