Toyota recalled Proace, Proace Verso vehicles built between 6 December 2022 and 13 February 2025. There is an error in the specific software calibrations of the Engine Control Unit. The dealer will update the software calibration of the Engine electronic control unit (ECU). You won't usually pay for it.1
What’s Wrong
There is an error in the specific software calibrations of the Engine Control Unit. In certain cases this condition may result in a delayed activation of the malfunction indicator (MIL) allowing the vehicle to operate with tailpipe emissions exceeding limits before the MIL is triggered.

Concern: Engine control unit reprogramming due to IUPR calculation problem on certain Toyota Proace and Proace Verso models Defect: For certain vehicles there is an error in the specific software calibrations of the Engine Control Unit. In certain cases this condition may result in a delayed activation of the malfunction indicator (MIL) allowing the vehicle to operate with tailpipe emissions exceeding limits before the MIL is triggered Remedy: Update to the software calibration of the Engine electronic control unit (ECU).

If the fault occurs, the recall notice says it could result in a delayed activation of the malfunction indicator (MIL) allowing the vehicle to operate with tailpipe emissions exceeding limits before the MIL is triggered.
The Fix
The dealer will update the software calibration of the Engine electronic control unit (ECU). The fix is a software update, which usually takes under an hour at the dealer.
