Audi A4 Recalls In The UK: Every Safety Recall By Year And Build Date, And What To Do

Recall data from DVSA, updated 15 October 2026.

The Audi A4 has 33 UK safety recalls in DVSA records, 12 of them since 2020. The most common faults involve airbags and takata airbags. Enter your registration to see which apply to your car; you won't usually pay for a recall repair.1

Airbags dominate the Audi A4's recall history in the UK. The largest recent A4 recall, R/2024/158, replaces the Takata passenger airbag on the A4, A4 Cabriolet and A6, covering 165,172 vehicle-records, and R/2021/234 and R/2024/312 dealt with driver's airbags. In August 2025 Audi issued a stop-drive recall, R/2025/387, for a small number of older A4s and other models with a Takata airbag, so if you own an A4 from the 2000s or early 2010s, check the registration and don't drive it if your letter says so. See Takata airbag recalls. Away from airbags, R/2018/051 replaced an air conditioning heater element that could overheat on A4, A5 and Q5 models. A4 recalls tend to arrive several years after a car is built, so older cars should be checked again even if they have been clear before.

What You Might Notice

Many recall faults give no warning at all, so a registration check is the only reliable way to know.2 See car recall symptoms.

Is The A4 Reliable?

Recalls show faults the maker has agreed to fix, not how often cars break down. Compare models on our compare page.
