Every Audi Safety Recall In The UK, By Model And Year, With What Each Fault Means And How To Get It Fixed

Recall data from DVSA, updated 15 October 2026.

Audi has 158 UK safety recalls in DVSA records, including 76 since 2020. The most common recent faults involve airbags, high-voltage battery and fire risk. Enter your registration to check your Audi; you won't usually pay for a recall repair at a franchised Audi dealer.1

Takata airbags are the recall most likely to affect an older Audi in the UK. The largest recent Audi recall, R/2024/158, replaces the passenger airbag on A4, A4 Cabriolet and A6 models, covering 165,172 vehicle-records, and earlier recalls such as R/2021/234 and R/2023/052 covered the A4, A5, A6, A8, TT and Q5. In 2025 Audi added a stop-drive recall, R/2025/387, for some older A3, A4, A5, A6 and Q5 models with Takata airbags, so owners of those cars should check their registration today and not drive if the letter says so. See Takata airbag recalls. Newer Audis have a different pattern: plug-in hybrid and e-tron recalls for high-voltage batteries, including a stop-drive recall for some A6 and Q5 plug-in hybrids (R/2024/495), and an electrical connector recall for the A3 and Q2 (R/2023/254) covering 104,162 vehicle-records. Any Audi Centre can check your VIN and book the work.

How Many Recalls Has Audi Had?

Since 2020 Audi has launched 76 UK recalls. Adjusted for its cars on the road, that is 3.63 car recalls per 100,000 licensed cars.

Highest: 2018 (16). Latest: 2026 (5). Source: DVSA recall data.

The per-car figure divides car recalls since 2020 by the number of Audi cars licensed in the UK in 2026 Q2, with van-only recalls removed.2 A higher count doesn't mean a car is less reliable: it reflects the size of the range, how vans are counted and how readily a maker recalls. See which car makes have the most recalls.

The Most Common Audi Recall Faults

Recent Audi recalls most often involve airbags, high-voltage battery and fire risk.

A recall can involve more than one type of fault, so the rows overlap. 10% of Audi recalls include a software update, often done in under an hour. Each fault type links to a page explaining the warning signs and what to do.

  1. The Code does not itself say repairs are free. GOV.UK guidance says "You will not usually have to pay for any repairs or parts under a safety recall." gov.uk Checked 15 Oct 2026.
  2. Models with fewer than 5 refs show lists, not rates.
  3. Code timelines: Producers normally respond to DVSA within 28 days (5.5); DVSA reviews are typically monthly (5.4). DVSA must be notified "as soon as the safety defect has been confirmed" (6.1). 3 notifications per motorist is seen as reasonable (8.3). Response rates are reported every three months (11.1).
