Mercedes-Benz recalled Sprinter vehicles built between 1 January 2006 and 31 December 2008. The fleece filter insert of the engine oil separator may become obstructed with dirt particles. The dealer will replace the original oil filter with one of a cyclone type. You won't usually pay for it.1
What’s Wrong
The fleece filter insert of the engine oil separator may become obstructed with dirt particles. It is therefore possible that an increase in pressure within the crankcase may occur with the result that oil could escape onto hot engine parts. Should this occur a fire may ensue.
