Toyota recalled Yaris HEV vehicles built between 7 July 2020 and 13 November 2020. The vehicle will not enter a failsafe driving mode if a temporary slip occurs in the input damper of the hybrid transaxle. The dealer will reprogram the HV ECU. You won't usually pay for it.1

Concern: DUE TO AN IMPROPER PROGRAMMING OF HYBRID SYSTEM VEHICLE MIGHT NOT ENTER A FAILSAFE DRIVING MODE. Defect: There is a possibility that the vehicle will not enter a failsafe driving mode if a temporary slip occurs in the input damper of the hybrid transaxle.� Remedy: Reprogram the HV ECU.

The Risk

The Fix
The dealer will reprogram the HV ECU. The fix is a software update, which usually takes under an hour at the dealer.
